Description
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Plans, directs and monitors strategic and tactical goals for the Laboratory Department in collaboration with Leadership and other clinical and operational stakeholders involved in the management of hospital laboratory services. Directs, monitors and manages all day-to-day administrative aspects of the department, including financial, operational and human resource issues. Develops and approves technical and operational policies and procedures, and ensures compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies. Creates a highly efficient, accountable, and collaborative team environment with staff and with customers (physicians, nursing, outreach clinics). Is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of patient safety, quality and compliance are followed and maintained.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors of Science degree in Medical Technology required with a Master of Business Administration or Health Administration preferred. Must be registered as a Medical Technologist by the ASCP or an equivalent organization. Minimum of five years clinical experience and five years management experience. Understands the latest clinical, regulatory and technological aspects of laboratory operations. Operates in a highly accountable manner under limited direction. Exemplifies a visionary, innovative leader who possesses the ability to develop, mentor and influence staff and physicians. Demonstrates critical thinking, prioritization, time management, and delegation skills. Have excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Has basic computer skills and can utilize tools to create efficient processes. Able to perform effectively under stressful and changing circumstances.
